Physiotherapy plays a key role in helping patients overcoming numerous types of surgical procedures. During the acute phase we will help reduce the risk of post-operative complications. Our physiotherapist will highlight the key signs of post-operative infections, as well as prescribe exercises so as to reduce the risk of blood clots. They will also educate patients on the post-operative precautions/restrictions associated with their specific procedure. Clarification will be given on post-operative weight bearing status, as well as offer instructions on how to use assistive devices such as crutches.
During the later phases of post-operative rehabilitation, we aim to return patients to their prior level of function, including successful return to work, recreational activities and competitive sport. Here at Activate Physiotherapy we are ideally placed to help patients recover from a range of surgeries. Our physiotherapists have a wealth of experience in orthopaedic rehabilitation and elite sport. Access to strength and conditioning coaches and their expertise in nutrition and sport-specific training means that we are able to provide a holistic approach to end-stage rehabilitation and facilitate a successful return to play.
