Manual therapy is an umbrella term for numerous forms of ‘hands-on’ treatment provided by Physiotherapists and Massage Therapists. This includes among others joint mobilisation and manipulation, passive movement of the affected body part, soft tissue massage and muscle stretching.

Manual therapy is used to improve function by increasing the range of motion at a joint, increasing tissue flexibility, and altering muscle activity. It has also been shown to have numerous therapeutic effects, including increased relaxation and reduced pain and swelling.
